2. Summary

Your answers, reasons, notes and tech preferences are stored only in your browser and are never sent to us. There are no accounts, no cookies and no external content such as fonts or CDNs. We count page views with the self-hosted tool Umami, without cookies and without your answers (section 4).

3. Hosting and page requests

The website runs on a rented server of netcup GmbH, Daimlerstraße 25, 76185 Karlsruhe, Germany. When you open a page, the web server processes technically necessary data (IP address, time, requested file, browser identifier) to deliver it. We do not keep access logs. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is delivering the website.

4. Audience measurement with Umami

To see how many people use the website and how many complete the questionnaire, we use Umami. Umami is self-hosted on our server in Germany; no data is passed to third parties. Umami sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Your IP address is processed only briefly to derive an anonymous visitor key and your approximate location (country, region, city) and is not stored. A random value that changes monthly means the same device is recognised for at most one calendar month.

Stored: pages viewed with time, referring page, browser, operating system, device type, screen size, approximate location and these click events: start button “Create profile”, questionnaire started and profile completed (each with short or full form), moral.md downloaded or copied, share link created. Your answers, scores, free text and tech preferences are never sent and are not linked to these counts.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is evaluating the use of the website in anonymised form and improving it. § 25 TDDDG does not apply because nothing is stored on or read from your device. You can block the count at any time with a content blocker.

5. Storage in your browser (localStorage)

So that you can pause the questionnaire and return to your result, the website stores your input in your browser's local storage. This data does not leave your device. The storage is strictly necessary for the service you request (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete it at any time by restarting on the profile page or clearing the site data in your browser.

6. Share link and export

The share link contains your answer values encoded in the part of the address after “#”. Browsers do not send this part to the server. Anyone who receives the link can see the answer values; free-text entries are not included. Exporting moral.md creates a file on your device without sending anything to us.

7. External links

The tech page links to other providers' websites. Data is only sent to them once you click such a link; their privacy policies apply.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information. Since we do not permanently store personal data, we usually hold no data about you.
